Yuan Li is an IT Specialist at CARAT AUSTRALIA "Because of my performance during the internship part of the program I was hired by Carat Australia as an IT Specialist. I think that my IT qualifications gave me an advantage and helped me get paid employment. One month before the internship I did the MCSA and CCNA certificates, which are skills that people in an IT support role need to know.
Some advice for Navitas Professional Year students:
While you are doing your internship, people will not teach you everything from the beginning, so you must be prepared to develop skills before you start. Also don’t be afraid to ask some "hard" questions as people will be happy to help you."

Vincent Liu is a Financial Analyst at a leading brand department store "My time as an intern was a great experience that I was very passionate about. It was filled with exciting challenges and I was offered a job as a Financial Analyst in the Accounts Payable team at the end of my internship.
In the finance department I was taught to use Oracle Financial software, which I had no idea about when I started work. Everyone in our department is very busy, if you want to finish your task before the deadline, you have to get used to this fast-speed working style. In order to catch up with others I tried my best to learn everything as quickly as I could, I learned how to review and analyze different kinds of reports, how to do collection jobs, how to communicate with different suppliers and how to answer various inquiries from buyers.
Every day at work is a challenge for me because I continue to learn new skills and deal with new situations. Thank you NAVITAS for giving me such a memorable experience!"

Ning Cai is a Commercial Analyst at COCA-COLA AMATIL PTY LTD "After my internship with Coca Cola Amatil, I was offered paid work which was a fantastic opportunity for me after doing the Navitas Professional Year. My colleagues are very friendly at Coca-Cola Amatil and they teach me and help me constantly.
Here is some advice for other participants in the Navitas Professional Year Program:
- Your resume is the first impression a company has of you. If you want to be phoned for an interview, work hard on your resume.
- If you are chosen to be interviewed by a large company, there are always 2 or even 3 rounds. The first round is either a phone interview or you are interviewed by HR staff in person. The second round is normally a panel interview. Familiarise yourself with frequently asked interview questions based on templates/examples you can find on the internet. Make sure you practice your tailored answers.
- Be confident especially in the panel interview and dress in a professional way.
- MS-Excel 2003/2007 is extremely important in daily office work so make sure you practice. Also practice SAP if you have access to it."
