1. Communication and Workplace Skills
These skills are delivered both in the classroom and via on-line lessons. Participants are required to attend 26 weeks of training at a nominated Navitas facility, for a total of six hours per week and also complete four hours of online lessons in their own time.
This component will cover the major areas of:
- Legal and ethical work practices
- Culture in the Australian workplace
- Workplace communication
- Workplace skills including meeting procedures, teamwork, report writing and business procedures
- How to develop business proposals
- Facilitation skills
- Workplace information such as Occupational Health & Safety, Equal Opportunity, as well as professional registration
- Career skills such as CV preparation and interview techniques
2. Professional Internship
During the professional internship component, participants will engage in practical work experience to apply the theory learned and to enhance their professional skills. All internships are unpaid and full time for a period of 12 weeks, and are arranged in consultation with the participant and the company. Navitas will conduct an interview with each participant and match an internship to their skill set.
3. Other Elements
The Navitas Professional Year Program includes the following:
- A Certificate III in Business Services
- Statements of Attainment for elements of the course that meet AQTF standards, including OSH&E (Occupational Health & Safety and Equal Opportunity) and Workplace Assessment
- English testing designed to measure skills for the workplace
- ACS Professional Year participants will become members of the Australian Computer Society
- Workshops and practical visits
- Welcome Day
- Graduation Day
- Employment assistance at the completion of the program
