The 485 Skilled Graduate (temporary) Visa
If you are planning on doing your Professional Year in Australia, you will need to apply for the 485 Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa (SGV). This visa will allow you to remain in Australia for up to 18 months while you work, travel or study to improve your English and professional skills.
Who can apply for the visa?
You can apply for the 485 visa if you:
- are under 50 years of age
- have completed an eligible qualification(s) in the last six months as a result of at least two (2) years study in Australia
- are unable to meet the pass mark on the points test for the Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa
- have the skills and qualifications to meet the Australian standard for an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and your nominated occupation is classified as either a 60 point occupation or a 50 point occupation.
How do you apply for the Skilled Graduate (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 485)?
You can apply for the SGV (Subclass 485) through the Department of Immigration website or via the post or courier.
