The PY Accounting Program is formally known as the Skilled Migrant Internship Program – Accounting (SMIPA), a Professional Year Program developed by CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Public Accountants. The program consists of training and an accounting internship placement designed to improve the career prospects of international accounting graduates from Australian universities.

MYOB is an accounting software program that is widely used by Australian businesses. As part of your course, you will receive specialised, online training in MYOB so you can be better prepared when you secure your first job in accounting.
General Skilled Migration
The Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting (SMIPA) is approved by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) , which means on successful completion you will be eligible for migration points towards permanent residence.
Entry Requirements
To qualify for the Professional Year Accounting Program (SMIPA), you must have:
- completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in accounting
- applied for or hold the 485 Skilled Graduate Visa (SGV)
- evidence of a minimum of IELTS 6.0 in all bands
- a valid skills assessment from an accounting professional association
